| Tuesday | 12/9/2008 | DETROIT CONSORTIUM | Score:57-44 The Adams Highlanders opened the season against highly regarded Detroit Consortium and won in a well played game. Consortium jumped out to a 2 point first quarter lead, but Adams played spectacular defense in the second quarter, held Consortium scoreless and jumped out to a 15 point halftime advantage. The second half was played evenly and Adams went on the win. The Highlanders were led by Brian Perry with 16 points and 5 rebounds, followed by Andrew Hammet who had 14 points. Kevin Rohner chipped in 11 points. Joey Dillon was the consummate point guard with 9 assists and 0 turnovers. | |
| Friday | 12/12/2008 | EISENHOWER | Score:59-75 In their first away game of the season, the Highlanders came out strong against the number 2 team in Macomb County by shooting 56% from the field and jumping out to a 12 point half-time lead. However, the Highlanders cooled down in the second half, only scoring 17, while Eisenhower took their turn with the hot hand and the win. Kevin Rohner scored 15 to lead Adams, followed by Conor Boyle with 12, and Brian Perry and Dominique Love who each scored 10. Michael Curry had 11 rebounds and Bob Patten contributed 5 assists. | |
| Thursday | 12/18/2008 | PONTIAC NORTHERN | Score:55-59 Adams rolled into the rocking Pontiac Northern gym for what turned out to be a thrilling game. Unfortunately, the thrilling part didn’t come until the Highlanders went down by 21 points in the 3rd quarter after being down by 9 at the half. However, the Highlanders weren’t done. They went on an 18-0 run to cut the lead to only 1 point with less than a minute left in the game. Adams was unable to convert and headed home on a cold night for a long break. Brian Perry led the team with 19 points. Conor Boyle followed with 11 points and 4 assists. Joey Dillon added 4 assists and Andrew Hammet had 8 rebounds. | |
| Tuesday | 1/6/2009 | ATHENS | Score:58-29 Adams opened the game against Troy Athens with tremendous defense, holding the Falcons to just 2 points in the first quarter and only 8 in the first half. Their offense was ok too as the Highlanders marched on to a 31 point half-time lead. This was a game that saw a lot of playing time for a lot of players, and was a wonderful way to open up league play. Brian Perry led the Highlanders with 16 points. Kevin Rohner added 11, including 3 three pointers. Dominique Love led the team in rebounding with 6 and Andy Morrissey chipped in 3 assists. | |
| Friday | 1/9/2009 | LAKE ORION | Score:39-38 It was a cold Friday night outside, but it was even colder in the Adams Highlander gym as they played Lake Orion. The Highlanders were only able to come up with 11 points in the first half and went into the locker room down by 5. The second half went slightly better as Adams was able to score 28 and held on for the win in a squeaker. The game ended with some controversy as Lake Orion hit what was 2 point shot, but was initially ruled a 3 point shot and would have sent the game into overtime. The refs did a fine job of getting together to correct the ruling and save the win for Adams. Conor Boyle led the team with 12 points, all in the second half. Kevin Rohner added 11 and Brian Perry chipped in 8. Michael Curry pulled down 7 rebounds against the tall Dragons. | |
| Monday | 1/12/2009 | TROY | Score:59-49 The Highlanders recovered from last Friday’s poor shooting with a focused game against the Troy Falcons. Adams jumped out to a 19-11 first quarter lead and never looked back with a well balanced team effort. Michael Curry led the team in scoring with 12 points, followed by Kevin Rohner and Brian Perry who each scored 9. Joey Dillon had 6 assists, while Dominique Love and Perry each contributed 5 rebounds. | |
| Friday | 1/16/2009 | AVONDALE | Score:64-47 The Adams Highlanders came up with a big win when traveling to Avondale. Adams struggled at the beginning, going down 14-9 after the first quarter. They fought back to a 1 point lead after a hard fought 2nd quarter and went into the locker room with the score 24-23. However, this was all before the Kevin Rohner Show started. Rohner hit four consecutive 3 point shots in the 3rd quarter, then added another in the 4th quarter to jump start the Highlanders on their roll to the 64-47 victory. Overall the Highlanders shot 74% on 2 point field goals, 45% on 3 point field goals and had 18 team assists. Rohner finished with 23 points to lead the Highlanders. Conor Boyle had 17 points and 5 assists. Brian Perry chipped in 9 points and the led the team with 8 rebounds. Joey Dillon also had 5 assists. This win gave Adams a 4-0 record in the league. | |
| Friday | 1/23/2009 | BERKLEY | Score:56-60 The Highlanders traveled to the Berkely Bears gym and came home with a heartbreaking loss. Adams jumped to a 16 point half time lead, scoring 36 in a hot first half, but cooled down considerably in the 2nd, only scoring 20. The Adams’ production was marred by an uncharacteristic 19 turnovers for the game. Brian Perry led the team with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Kevin Rohner added 14 points and three 3 pointers. Dominique Love chipped in 8 and Bob Patten had 5 assists. | |
| Monday | 1/26/2009 | SOUTHFIELD | Score:81-80 With 4 seconds left in OT and Adams down by 1, Joey Dillon stepped to the line and calmly sank 2 free throws to give the Highlanders a thrilling victory over the Southfield Blue Jays. It was an exciting, high scoring game all along the way. Kevin Rohner set a new school record by making 8 three pointers in his 9 attempts (yes, you read that correctly- Rohner made out 8 out of 9 three pointers) and led the team with 28 points. Conor Boyle and Brian Perry added 5 more three pointers between them and each scored 17 while Perry added 5 rebounds. In addition to his game winning free throws, Dillon contributed 13 assists (1 short of the school record) and Michael Curry added 4 steals. | |
| Friday | 1/30/2009 | ROCHESTER | Score:58-46 It was a riveting night for Adams Highlanders as they held off the feisty Rochester Falcons in the annual Crosstown Showdown. The air was filled with electricity and screaming hordes of painted, oddly dressed students, cheerleaders, school bands, and press members who made up a portion of the 4000 people that filled Oakland Unviersity’s O-Rena. The crowd saw the Highlanders defeat the Falcons in the kind of emotional, rivalry game that we’ve come to expect whenever these two meet. Michael Curry led Adams with 17 point and 11 rebounds in his best game of the season. Dominique Love added 13 points and Joey Dillon continued his hot passing hand with 12 assists. | |
| Tuesday | 2/3/2009 | STONEY CREEK | Score:58-48 In its second consecutive cross city rivalry game, the Adams Highlanders came out n top against the Stoney Creek Cougars in a hard fought battle. Stoney jumped out to a 16-11 first quarter lead, and went into halftime retaining a 2 point advantage. Adams came out strong in the second half and forged to a victory, outscoring Stoney 32-18 points in the last 2 quarters. Brian Perry led the Highlanders with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Conor Boyle added 13 points, while Dominique Love had 9 and Andre Hammet chipped in 8. Joey Dillon added 7 assists and Bob Patten had 6 assists. | |
| Friday | 2/6/2009 | ATHENS | Score:48-34 The Adams Highlanders defeated Troy Athens in their 2nd game of league play on Friday night. Adams held a 6 point lead at half-time and increased that over the 2nd half, winning by 12. Brian Perry led Adams with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Kevin Rohner added 9 points off of 3 three- pointers and Michael Curry contributed 6 rebounds. Joey Dillon led the team in assists with 5. | |
| Tuesday | 2/10/2009 | NOTRE DAME PREP | Score:37-51 The Adams Highlanders lost to a highly motivated Notre Prep team at Notre Dame Prep on Tuesday night. Notre Dame played their best game of the season and walked off with a 14 point win. Kevin Rohner led Adams with 14 points, 12 of them from 3 point shots. Brian Perry and Dominique Love added 5 rebounds and Bob Patten had 3 assists. | |
| Thursday | 2/12/2009 | LAKE ORION | Score:57-22 The Adams Highlanders took their frustration from Tuesday’s loss out on the Lake Orion Dragons to the tune of a 35 point win. Adams jumped out to an 8 point lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The win was fueled by excellent defense as the Highlanders held Lake Orion to 11 points in each half. Kevin Rohner led the team with 15 points, including 3 three pointers. Conor Boyle had 13 points. Joey Dillon led the team in assists with 6, and Michael Curry led the team in rebounding with 5. Next week is important as the Highlanders take on Avondale and Troy. Both teams trail Adams closely in league play. | |
| Tuesday | 2/17/2009 | AVONDALE | Score:54-63 In a big game for the OAA White division, the Adams Highlanders lost to Avondale. Avondale played an excellent all around game both defensively and offensively, methodically extending a 1 point 1st quarter lead and holding on for the win despite a furious comeback attempt by Adams. This win moved Adams and Avondale into a tie for the league lead along with Troy. Joe Dillon led Adams with 17 points, 9 assists and 3 steals. Dominique Love added 10 points and 5 rebounds. Conor Boyle chipped in 9 points and Michael Curry added 5 rebounds. | |
| Friday | 2/20/2009 | Troy | Score:47-53 The Adams Highlanders experienced two heartbreaking losses in a hard fought, physical battle to the Troy Colts. One was the game, and the other was their standing at the top of the league. Adams surged to a 4 point lead behind 4 consecutive 3 point shots with 1:54 left in the game. However, the Troy Colts emerged on top, sinking free-throws and hitting key shots in the final minute of the game. Conor Boyle led Adams in scoring with 11. Brian Perry had 9 points and 5 rebounds. Joey Dillon had 8 points and 4 assists. Michael Curry had 5 rebounds and Kevin Rohner added 4 assists. | |
| Tuesday | 2/24/2009 | CLARKSTON | Score:48-38 When the number one team in the state, and the 13th ranked team in the Mid-West entered the Adams gym, most casual observers would have assumed a blow out was about to occur. Most casual observers were proved wrong. Clarkston did jump out to an 11 point lead after the first quarter, but a stellar defensive effort by Adams held the Wolves to only 2 points in the second quarter and Clarkston went into the locker room leading 21-17. Adams continued to roll in the first portion the second half and led 25-23 in the middle of the third quarter. Clarkston then got things back on track and was able to escape with the win, but only after a wonderful battle Conor Boyle led the team in scoring with 10 points while Kevin Rohner added 8 points. Joey Dillon had 6 assists and Michael Curry had 7 rebounds. | |
| Friday | 2/27/2009 | BERKLEY | Score:62-49 The Adams Highlanders were able to avenge a loss earlier in the season against Berkley by jumping out to a 14 point lead after the first quarter and holding that lead throughout. The Highlanders shot very well all night long, hitting almost 50% from 2 point range and 82% from the free throw line as a team. At the same time, Adams played solid defense, holding Berkley to 15 1st half points. Conor Boyle led the team with 22 points, Brian Perry added 13 points and 8 rebounds, and Kevin Rohner chipped in 11 points. Joey Dillon led the team in assists with 4. The Higlanders wrap up the regular season next week with games against crosstown rivals Rochester and Stoney Creek. | |
| Tuesday | 3/3/2009 | ROCHESTER | Score:49-30 The Highlanders defeated the Rochester Falcons for the 2nd time this year. The Highlanders methodically extended their lead throughout the game, although Falcons battled throughout. Nothing came easy for either team as both played with a lot of pride. Joey Dillon led the Highlanders with 12 points and 3 assists. Brian Perry contributed 10 points and 7 rebounds, while Kevin Rohner kicked in 3 assists. | |
| Friday | 3/6/2009 | STONEY CREEK | Score:42-41 It was a back and forth battle against rival Stoney Creek, but the Highlanders were able to pull out a win at the end. Adams was down by 2 points at the half, and 3 going into the 4th quarter. It wasn’t until 5.6 seconds left when the game was decided as Conor Boyle sealed the victory with 2 free throws. Kevin Rohner led the team in scoring with 13 points while Boyle added 10. Michael Curry chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds, and Joey Dillon contributed 6 assists. The Highlanders finish the season with a 13-7 overall record, and 11-3 in OAA White league- good for a 2nd place finish. Their districts begin Wednesday at 5:30 at Troy Athens. Congratulations to all of the boys and coaching staff on a well played season!! | |
