The Highlander JV Team started the season with a successful  61 -- 40  victory over Troy on Tuesday night.   Both teams took a while to get their early season shooting touch,  but once they did,  the Highlanders started to pull away in the second quarter.   They took a  31 -- 19  lead into half-time.    Adams then pulled away for good in the 3rd quarter, and held a  20  point lead through most of the 2nd half. The Highlanders played good, aggressive defense all night.   Everyone contributed to this team effort, and eventually all 13 players scored to help the cause.   Leading the way with  11  points each were Austin McClelland and Andy Morrissey,  followed closely by Dominique Love,  Mike Johnson,  Frank Guidice,  and Andrew Hammett.     Good effort from everyone!
Friday12/7/2007EISENHOWERScore:57-56
The JV Highlanders scored a thrilling  57 -- 56 victory over Utica Eisenhower Friday night.   Frank Guidice made 2 swish free-throws with 16 seconds left to claim the win.   This was after Dominique Love forced a huge turnover on defense to get the ball back for Adams.   The last shot of the game by Eisenhower with one second left was blocked nicely by Andrew Hammett to preserve the win.   Frank Guidice made a total of 4 free-throws in the last minute for Adams to cap off a big game with 12 points.   Dominique Love made 2 key baskets down the stretch in the 4th quarter, and he and Mike Johnson battled strongly all night on the boards.   Austin McClelland kicked in 13 points as well to lead the scoring.   The Highlanders are now  2 -- 0  as they ready to face cross-town rivals Stoney Creek.
Monday12/10/2007STONEY CREEKScore:43-50
Frigid cold shooting was the story Monday night when the JV's lost  50 - 43  to Stoney Creek.   The Highlanders missed numerous opportunities and shots.  They kept it close throughout the game, but could not catch Stoney. The Cougars made plenty of 3-balls and foul shots. Adams played aggressive defense in the 2nd half, and had many more shots for the game, but the ball just would not drop.  Dominique Love was the exception with 15 points and Jimmy Noser contributed 8.   George Patsarikas, Ryan Strum, and Richard Park played solid defense to help keep it close.

Thursday12/20/2007AVONDALEScore:61-50
A big 4th quarter allowed the Adams JV's to finally put away a scrappy Avondale team  61 -- 50.   It was a close, back & forth contest throughout the first 3 quarters.   Adams led by one at the half, but Avondale continued to press hard and demonstrated good quickness and some skilled shooting. The Highlanders finally took control in the 4th quarter with some good movement, penetration, and better shooting.   Mike Johnson, Austin McClelland, and Dominique Love led the way with double digit points.   Timely aggressive defense by everyone led to some key turnovers down the stretch. Adams is now  5 -- 1  heading into the holiday break.
Thursday1/3/2008SOUTHFIELDScore:53-68
The Southfield Blue Jays on their home court defeated Adams 68 -- 53. Southfield jumped out to a big first half lead, and led by as many as 20 points. Adams battled back in the 3rd quarter and after a furious rally they closed to within 7 points. Andy Morissey, Frank Guidice and Andrew Hammett spurred the rally with some pressure defense that forced some key turnovers and baskets. Dominique Love and Mike Johnson led the scoring attack. But Southfield held on in the 4th quarter to preserve the win. The Highlanders will be looking for some revenge when these 2 teams meet again at Adams in a few weeks.
Tuesday1/8/2008FERNDALEScore:62-50
The Highlanders used a big 3rd quarter to pull away from Ferndale for a 62 -- 50 win on Tuesday. After a close first half, Adams used better ball movement and some good shooting to put this game away. Jordan Littelson led a swarming defense with some key steals and contributed 6 points. Austin McClelland got hot from beyond the arc and fired in 17 points. Frank Guidice and Dominique Love scored 9 points each, Andrew Hammett had 8, and Andy Morissey added 7. The JV's are now 6 -- 2 as they prepare to play cross-town rivals Rochester this week.
Thursday1/10/2008ROCHESTERScore:64-42
Adams JV's scored a big victory 64 -- 42 over their rivals Rochester. The Highlander's broke open a close game at the start of the 2nd quarter and took an 11 point lead at the half. They controlled the 2nd half with crisp passing, offensive penetration, and solid defense. Dominique Love, Mike Johnson, Ryan Strum and Richard Park worked hard on the boards all night. Andrew Hammett led the scoring with 16 big points, Frank Guidice had 13, Austin McClelland added 9, and Andy Morissey and Dominique Love had 8 each. It was good to see the return of Bob Patten from his back injury and he contributed some solid minutes. The JV's are now 7 -- 2
Monday1/14/2008WEST BLOOMFIELDScore:49-46
Score: 49 -- 46. Adams overcame a 16 -- 1 deficit in the 2nd quarter to post a thrilling 49 -- 46 win. Their shots were erratic in the first quarter, but Adams came alive in the 3rd quarter to climb back within 3. A swarming defense led the way. In the final quarter our Highlanders played smart and controlling basketball. Some timely foul shooting put the game away. Austin McClelland made 4 out of 4 from the line in the final minute. Andrew Hammett scored 13 points for the game, McClelland had 12, and Frank Guidice added 10.

Tuesday1/22/2008CLARKSTONScore:60-57
What a comeback for a great Highlander win against rival Clarkston!!! After a close 1st quarter, Clarkston grabbed control of the boards and took a 27 - 22 lead at the half. They had a big 3rd quarter with some crisp passing and rebounding. Clarkston moved to a 12 point lead at 47 -35 going into the final quarter. But the gritty Highlanders were not about to give up. They stepped up their defense and full court pressure. They created numerous turnovers and eventually staged one of the finest last quarter comebacks ever seen. Austin McClelland scored 14 points in the final quarter and 22 for the game. Andrew Hammett added 11 points for the game and Andy Morrissey scored 10. Mike Johnson and Frank Guidice battled hard on the boards to regain control. Great win!!!
Friday1/25/2008ATHENSScore:45-36
After a slow 1st quarter and some poor shooting, our Highlanders found themselves behind at the half on the road. But as usual, they played a much better 2nd half and took a 34 - 28 lead after 3 quarters. They took better care of the basketball with less turnovers and won going away. Both sides played tight defense all night which led to the low scoring. Andrew Hammett was the only player to hit double figures in the scoring column. Frank Guidice and Dominique Love contributed both offensively and on the boards. The Highlanders have now won 6 in a row.
Thursday1/31/2008LAKE ORIONScore:47-28
Adams took control in the 2nd quarter and moved to a 24 - 15 lead at the half. They extended the lead through the 3rd quarter and pulled away to their 47 - 28 win. The full court pressure seemed to be too much for Lake Orion to handle. Good swarming defense all night led to the low scoring affair. The Highlanders had very balanced scoring with everyone contributing. Jordan Littleson, Jimmy Noser. Richard Park, Mark Ellis, and Daniel Park all made big efforts throughout the game. Our JV's are now 12 - 2 heading toward their stretch run.
Tuesday2/5/2008AVONDALEScore:42-58
The shots would not fall for Adams all night. Coupled with numerous turnovers, it was a very frustrating game for the young Highlanders. The game was close until halfway through the 2nd quarter when Avondale's quickness and high pressure defense took control. They beat Adams down the court time after time. They pressured our team into missed passes and poor selections. Andy Morrissey led Adams scoring with 11 points, followed by Dominique Love with 8, Frank Guidice with 7, and Bob Patten with 5.
Friday2/8/2008PONTIAC NORTHERNScore:36-50
Our young Highlanders started slow and fell behind 13 - 2. They rallied in the 2nd quarter through better ball movement to trail by just 5 at the half, 23 - 18. A furious, ball-hawking 3rd quarter put the Highlanders in the lead momentarily. But the quickness and jumping ability of Pontiac Northern wore down Adams and they broke open a close game in the last 2 minutes. Jordan Littleson and Andy Morissey led the scoring with 10 each, while Mike Johnson contributed 6 points and some good rebounding. George Patsarikas, Mark Ellis and Richard Park kicked in some solid defense.
Monday2/11/2008ATHENSScore:35-32
Adams got back to its winning ways Monday night with a 35 - 32 victory over Troy Athens. It was a close game all the way as Adams again struggled with its shooting and ball-handling. Trailing at the half by 3, the Highlanders played their best in the 3rd quarter with better penetration and good defense to take the lead, which they never relinquished the rest of the way. In the final minute, Andrew Hammett and Austin McClelland hit big free throws to seal the victory. Hammett led the scoring with 11 points, followed by Mike Johnson and McClelland. We got strong rebounding and defense from Dominique Love and Jordan Littleson. Our Highlanders are now 13 - 4, as they prepare for revenge against Southfield on Thursday.
Thursday2/14/2008SOUTHFIELDScore:46-50
Adams played tough against a good Southfield team, but came up just short 50 - 46 in the end. A big 2nd quarter from Southfield had them re-capture the lead and jump out to a 7 point halftime lead at 30 - 23. It went back and forth through the 2nd half as Adams regained the lead in the 4th quarter, but could not hold off the quick Southfield Blue Jays. The Highlander defense played solid and aggressive throughout the game, but Southfield got just too many rebounds and loose balls. Andy Morissey had 9 points for Adams, while Mike Johnson, Dominique Love and Jordan Littleson all contributed 8 each. Good effort from the entire team almost pulled it out for the Highlanders who were missing Frank Guidice and Jimmy Noser with injuries.
Tuesday2/19/2008ROCHESTERScore:44-33
A huge 4th quarter broke open a close game for a 44 - 33 Adams win. The Highlanders led by 2 at halftime, but then trailed by one entering the last quarter. Then Adams started to move and pass better, providing them much closer shots. Dominique Love scored 8 of his 12 points for the game in the final quarter to lead Adams. Andy Morissey added 7 points. The defense of Mike Johnson, Bob Patten, Austin McClelland, Andrew Hammett and George Patsarikas forced significant turnovers down the stretch to secure the win against their arch rivals. The Highlanders are now 14 - 5 heading into their season finale.
Friday2/22/2008BIRMINGHAM GROVESScore:53-41
Winning your last 2 games is a great way to end a very successful season. Adams was in control of this one all the way. The JV's led 29 - 16 at halftime and 43 - 28 after 3 quarters. Everyone played and everyone contributed to this win. Andrew Hammett led the scoring with 14 points, followed by Bob Patten and Andy Morissey with 8, Austin McClelland with 7, and Richard Park with 6. Ryan Strum, Daniel Park, Mike Johnson and Jordan Littleson also hit the score sheet. George Patsarikas and Mark Ellis contributed good hustle on defense. Unfortunately Frank Guidice and Jimmy Noser both missed the last 5 games of the season due to injuries, but both made very valueable contributions during the first 15 games. This was a great season for the young Highlanders as they finished 15 - 5, despite some significant injuries and missed games throughout the year. The future bodes well for Adams basketball as these young men progress. A teriffic job of coaching by Larry Frankland and Adrian Schaffer. Many thanks to you two gentlemen, as well as Trainer Angela and Manager Brandon Palmer.
