TROY |
Troy 56, Adams 46
The Adams Varsity team spent Tuesday evening working out
their first game jitters against the very athletic Troy
Colts. Unfortunately, the Highlanders came out on the
losing end of this contest. The Colts pressed effectively,
creating 29 Adams turnovers that Troy converted into a
number of lay-ups and dunks. The Highlander team hung tough
throughout the game by shooting 18 for 22 from the free
throw line, and trailed by only 6 with 1:30 left in the
game. The Colts were able to hold on to a victory through
their tough defense. Adams was led by J.D. Osborne’s 15
points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Jake Heinrich
chipped in 11 points.
John Zekaj followed with 8
points, and Brian Perry added 7 rebounds.

EISENHOWER |
Adams 58,
Eisenhower 52
The Adams Highlanders won a thriller
at home on Friday beating Utica Eisenhower 58-56.
Adams controlled the game throughout, taking a 9
point lead into the 4th quarter after leading the
entire game. However, things tightened up
considerably from that time and Eisenhower even took
a 1 point lead with less than 2 minutes left in the
game. J.D. Osborne then hit a tough runner to put
Adams back on top. The Highlanders followed up
hitting their free throws down the stretch to seal
the win. Adams was much improved in taking care of
the ball with 11 fewer turnovers than their first
game. John Zekaj led the team in scoring with 11
points followed by Jake Heinrich and J.D. Osborne,
each with 10 points. Jake and J.D. led the team with
3 assists. Michael Curry and J.D. each grabbed 7
rebounds.

STONEY CREEK |
Adams 46,
Stoney Creek 34
The Adams Highlanders faced an emotional contest
against their well-known neighbors, the Stoney Creek
Cougars. Both teams came in with the hopes of holding the
upper hand in the upcoming, good natured trash talk that
occurs when two teams who know each other so well battle.
And the Highlanders will hold the upper hand for a while.
Both teams fought hard and played excellent defense, not
allowing easy shots throughout the game. For three
quarters, it was a close contest. Adams held a 3 point lead
going into the 4th quarter. In the final period the
Highlanders broke loose, outscoring Stoney Creek 17 to 8.
Adams' domination of the boards was a key in securing
the win as they held a 32 to 16 advantage in rebounds. John
Zekaj led the team in scoring with 12 points and Kevin
Rohner added 8 points. Jake Heinrich and Michael Curry had
6 rebounds each, while Cameron Alveraz had 4 steals.

LAKE ORION |
Adams 43, Lake Orion 58
The Highlanders put up a valiant
effort against Lake Orion on Thursday night. Adams
played without 2 of their senior co-captains, Jake
Heinrich and J.D. Osborne. In spite of this, the
Highlanders kept the game close throughout the
night. With 4 minutes left they were still within 6
points, and with a couple of breaks could have
pulled off a major upset. Instead, Lake Orion was
able to hit their free throws down the stretch to
extend their lead. Adams was led by Kevin Rohner
who scored 15, including 4 three pointers. John
Zekaj added 12 points and Brian Perry contributed 6
points and 6 rebounds.

LAHSER |
The Adams boys put together some nice
stretches of basketball against Bloomfield Hills Lahser,
winning 67 to 47. The Highlanders carried a 9 point lead
into the half before dominating the 3rd quarter, scoring 16
while holding the Knights to 4 points for the quarter. Adams was
led by Kevin Rohner, who scored 15 points, 9 of them off of 3
point shots. John Zekaj added 14 points and 7 rebounds, and
Brian Perry chipped in 9 points. Jake Heinrich led the team in
rebounding with 9. |

AVONDALE |
 |
Adams 55. Avondale 59
The
Highlanders faced a very physical, quick Avondale
team on Thursday night. It was a back forth
wrestling match all night long, with the style of
reffing playing right into the hands of the “hands
on” defense played by Avondale. Adams played very
well in stretches, and had an 8 point lead at one
point in the second half. However, the physicality
began to wear on Adams late in the game and Avondale
was able to create a number of turnovers leading to
baskets and the win. Adams was led by John Zekaj
who scored 18 and led the team with 6 rebounds.
Kevin Rohner followed with 15, 9 of those off of 3
point shots. J.D. Osborne had 8 points, 5 rebounds
and 4 assists. Jake Heinrich and Brian Perry added
5 rebounds each.
