The Freshman basketball team won a thriller against Stoney Creek 74-72 in overtime.  Joey Dillon and Conor Boyle led the way for the Highlanders, each scoring 17 points.  Joey finished with 8 assists and 4 steals while Conor had 6 assists and 4 steals.  Mike Johnson and Alex Martin hit the boards hard and finished with 9 and 11 points respectively

The Adams Freshman Basketball Team won their first home game yesterday 61-30 over Waterford Mott.  The Highlanders used a half court trap effectively in forcing 20 turnovers that led to easy transition buckets.  The Highlanders were paced by Andy Morrissey (12 points), George Patsarikas (12 points), and Conor Boyle (5 assists).  For the second straight game Adams was able to overcome the fact that their opponents are shooting 60% from the field and being out rebounded on the boards.  The Highlanders travel to West Bloomfield on Friday to take on the Lakers in what should be a more competitive game.

The Highlanders defeated the Lakers of West Bloomfield 59-46 for their second road win of the season. The game was close throughout until a couple of key steals and free throws late in the contest. Adams used a balanced scoring attack with seven players scoring 6 points or more. Austin McClelland controlled the offense with 7 assists and only 1 turnover, and went 5 of 6 from the free throw line with under one minute to play

Adams defeated Troy and Stoney Creek on consecutive nights this week to
improve to 5-0 on the season.  The Highlanders used stingy defense against
Troy holding the Colts to only 4 total points in the second and fourth
quarters.  The final score was 47-32.  Andy Morrissey and Conor Boyle led
the way 11 points each.  George Patsarikas and Jimmy Noser each nailed huge
3 points down the stretch to seal the win.

In the much anticipated rematch between Stoney Creek and Adams, after a
74-72 overtime win by the Highlanders two weeks ago, Adams soundly defeated
the Cougars 60-34.  The Highlanders pushed the tempo right from the start
and forced over 20 turnovers, many of those in the opening quarter as Adams
jumped out to a 11-3 lead and never looked back.  The Highlanders were led
by Mike Johnson who had a season high 8 rebounds and 13 points.  Conor
Boyle chipped in with 10 points and 5 rebounds, Andy Morrissey 10 points,
and Jimmy Noser 8 points.

Romeo 44

Adams defeated Romeo Friday night 46-44 in a very physical game. The referees "let the kids play" all night long. The Highlanders took a 7 point lead into halftime, but went on a 4 minute scoring draught to start the third quarter. Romeo tied the game late in the contest, but a Jimmy Noser free throw put the highlanders up two with 7 seconds to play. Romeo missed a contested jumper at the buzzer and the Highlanders improved to 6-0. The scoring was very balanced for the Highlanders with 6 players scoring over 4 points, led my Joey Dillon's 12 points, 8 which came in the final quarter. Mike Johnson led the team with 8 rebounds and all out hustle the entire game. Adams overcame poor shooting, 25% from the field, and 18 turnovers to gut out the win. The team looked deep within themselves and found a way to win this tough game.

The Highlanders defeated a tough opponent Tuesday night in a game against Troy Athens. The Redhawks played a difficult 2-3 matchup zone for most of the night that frustrated the Highlanders. Adams took a 22-19 lead into halftime and was only able to expand the lead by 2 in the 3rd quarter. With under a minute left the Redhawks took their first lead of the game. Adams was able to force a turnover with about 17 seconds to play. From there, Joey Dillon did the rest, making a runner in the lane and getting fouled. Joey hit the free throw to put Adams up by two points with 2.6 seconds to play. The Redhawks missed a contested jumper at the buzzer as Adams held on to a 43-41 lead. Adams had 6 players score more than 6 points with Alex Martin leading the way with 9. Mike Johnson had 13 rebounds to lead the Highlanders. Adams improves to 7-0.

The Highlanders held on to late in the game to defeat Lake Orion on Friday by a score of 48-46. It was the 3rd game in a row that Adams won by basket. Adams jumped out to a 32-23 lead at halftime, but the offense sputtered in the second half, scoring only 16 points. The defense made a couple of big stops late in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Adams was led by Andy Morrissey, 13 points, 12 in the first half. Richard Park scored 12 points, and Conor Boyle scored 7 while dishing out 5 assists.

After a slow start the Highlanders woke up and defeated Lahser 55-26. Adams came out flat and were down 9-6 at the end of the first quarter. The defense was then turned up a notch and the full court press caused turnovers that led to easy buckets. Adams outscored Lahser 23-6 in the second quarter and cruised the rest of the way. Andy Morrissey led Adams with 10 points and 5 rebounds. George Patsarikas led the Highlanders with 7 rebounds. All but one Highlander scored in the contest. Adams improves to 9-0 on the season.

Southfield 71, Adams 56

The Highlanders dropped their first contest of the season on the road at Southfield 71-56. Three players scored over 15 points for the Blue Jays as the Highlanders had a hard time keeping Southfield out of the lane. In the second half Adams was able to cut the lead to 4 on two different occasions but could not overtake the lead. Adams was led by Conor Boyle (16 points.), Andy Morrisey (11 points) and Richard Park (10 points). Joey Dillon also had a game high 5 assists. Adams drops to 9-1 on the season as Southfield improves to 7-3.

Adams 73, Rochester 45

Adams defeated Rochester 73-45 on Friday night. The Highlander defensive pressure forced the Falcons into 31 turnovers. Adams won the battle of the boards and controlled the up-tempo game from the beginning of the second quarter on. The Highlanders closed out the first quarter on a 8-0 run and didn't slow down in the second quarter outscoring Rochester 19-8 to open up a 36-24 halftime lead. A 21 point explosion in the third quarter by Adams and a great defensive effort in only allowing Rochester 7 points sealed the deal for the Highlanders. Joey Dillon led the way with 16 points (3 of 4 from behind the arc), 5 assists, and 4 steals. Also in double figures for the 3rd time in 4 games was Richard Park with 11. Every Highlander scored a bucket in the big win against the crosstown rival. Adams is now 10-1 on the season.

The Highlanders won a tight contest at Clarkston 46-41. Both teams played tough defense for most of the game. After a 9-9 tie at the end of the 1st quarter, Adams outscored the Wolves 16-9 in the 2nd quarter. The Wolves did not roll over as they outscored the Highlanders 17-11 in the 3rd, but Adams turned up the "D" allowing only 6 points in the fourth quarter. TJ Trouba led the Highlanders with 7 rebounds. Conor Boyle and Richard Park scored 8 and 9 points respectively. Joey Dillon dished out 6 assists. 9 Highlanders scored in the game to improve to 11-1 on the season.

The Highlanders went on the road again for the fifth time in the last six games and defeated Birmingham Groves 45-21. Adams played solid man-to-man defense and allowed Groves to score only 5 and 4 points respectively in the second and third quarters. After a sluggish start in the first quarter the Highlanders ripped off 17 points in the second quarter to lead 23-13 at the half. Joey Dillon led the team in rebounds and assists with 6 each. Conor Boyle led the team in scoring with 13 points. Dan Park and Jordan Littleson provided great energy off the bench to spark the Highlanders out of the slow start. Adams goes on the road, once again, to Southfield Lathrup on Tuesday.

The Highlanders won on the road for the eighth time this season defeating Troy Athens 54-39. After trailing 11-4 at the end of the first quarter Adams outscored Athens 20-10 to go into halftime up 24-21. The players stepped it up in the second half, limiting Athens to only 3 field goals the rest of the way, thanks to a mix of the full court press and a swarming 1-2-2 zone trap. The Highlanders shot an astounding 9-10 from the field in the fourth quarter and 3-3 from the free throw line. Conor Boyle led the way for Adams scoring a season high 19 points, dishing out 5 assists, 7 steals, and only 1 turnover. Richard Park also reached double figures with 13 points. Adams improves to 13-1 on the season.

The Highlanders swept the season series against Lake Orion Tuesday night, defeating the Dragons 44-34. Adams played solid defense for most of the night and limited Lake Orion's quality shots. Adams was sparked by Jimmy Noser and Austin McClelland in the 3rd quarter to put Adams up 37-26. The offense sputtered in fourth, scoring only seven points, but the defense held strong only allowing the Dragons eight points. Andy Morrissey shook off the flu and had 2 steals for coast-to-coast lay ups in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Andy led all scorers with 11 points. Alex Martin and Mike Johnson each had 6 rebounds. Adams improves to 14-1 on the season.

Pontiac Northern 49 Adams 48

After leading 43-32 to enter the fourth quarter, Adams lost to Pontiac Northern 49-48. The Highlanders and Huskies played a very even 1st half with Adams taking a 43-32 lead into halftime. Adams defense in the 3rd quarter held Northern to only 8 points while scoring 11. In the fourth quarter turnovers were the story. The Highlanders managed only 3 shots while turning the ball over 9 times against the full court press. Those 9 turnovers led to easy fast break opportunities as Northern outscored Adams 17-5 in the fourth to hand Adams its second loss of the year. Adams shot 55% from the field and held Northern 36% shooting. Adams cost itself with 30 turnovers and by shooting 8-15 (53%) from the free throw line. Adams was led by Conor Boyle (14 pts, 2 asst., 6 steals) and Jimmy Noser (9 pts). The Highlanders play another tough home game Friday and look to avenge a loss earlier in the year to Southfield. Adams is 14-2 on the season.

Adams avenged its only league loss by beating Southfield 60-56 in overtime. Adams took a nine point lead into the half by playing solid half court defense and by going 8-8 at the free throw line. Southfield came out and attacked the basket hard in the third quarter outscoring Adams 20-9. In the fourth quarter Austin McClelland hit a huge three pointer, Andy Morrissey had a big steal and coast to coast layup, and Conor Boyle scored 6 points to force overtime. In OT the McClelland hit another huge three and the Highlanders went 7-8 from the FT line. Boyle led the Highlanders with 21 Pts. (10-11 FT's) followed by McClelland 10 pts, and Mike Johnson had 10 rebounds. Adams made 22-26 FT's (85%) for the game.

Adams 55, Rochester 45

Adams defeated Rochester last night 55-45 to go 4-0 against Rochester and Stoney Creek this season. In a game that saw Rochester dictate the tempo in the first half and go to the break leading 26-13, the Highlanders never gave up. Rochester dominated the offensive glass and out hustled Adams for the first two quarters, but that all changed after halftime. Adams changed presses to start the 3rd quarter and the Falcons could not solve it, turning the ball over 5 times in the first eight possessions. Rochester's turnovers led to 10 Adams' points and by the 4:30 mark the Highlanders had overtaken the Falcons, never to look back. The 3rd quarter proved to be the difference as Adams outscored Rochester 23-9. Adams was led by Conor Boyle (18pts,3 Reb), Mike Johnson (10pts, 6 Reb), Austin McClelland (8pts, 4 Reb), and Joey Dillon (5 Ast, 6 Reb, 4 Pts). "The determination of the players and the intensity they provided on defense in the second half was the difference in the game. These guys never think they are out of a game and can play great defense when they put their minds to it," head coach Jeff Hall said after the game. "We are a very good team, and played well with our backs against the wall in the second half." Adams improves to 16-2 while Rochester drops to 9-11.

Groves 50

Adams finished their season off right by defeating Groves 67-50 to complete their season with a 17-2 record and a Freshman league championship by going 9-1 in OAA II. The Highlanders started off the game scoring 12 points in the first quarter against the Falcons' zone defense while holding Groves to only 6 points in a slow moving first quarter. The Falcons picked up the pace in the second quarter by scoring in transition and took a 23-22 lead into the half. The Highlanders came out with a more energized effort in the 3rd quarter and managed to score 24 points while giving up 18. The shootout continued in the fourth for Adams as they outscored Groves 21-9 in the quarter. Adams' depth was a key to the second half run as 11 of 12 players scored and made key plays for the Highlanders. Adams made 5 three pointers in the second half and hit 12 of 18 free throws in the comeback. Conor Boyle led the team with 18. Andy Morrissey scored 12 pts. and had 4 steals. Joey Dillon led the way with 5 assists. Richard Park had 8 points and 5 rebounds.
