Basketball Try-Outs
To Potential Players and Parents,
Try-outs for the boy’s basketball season are set to begin on Monday, November
15th. Click
here for Specific dates and times.
Remember that all players must have a physical on file before Friday,
November 12th in order to be able to participate in try-outs.
Any player that did not play a fall sport must see Coach Hall or Mr. Rapp
to get a physical form.
All players are
required to bring a copy of their report card to the first practice.
Those players who do not turn in their report card will not be allowed to
participate until it is turned in.
Players are
asked to NOT purchase their
basketball shoes at this time. We
will not be ordering a team shoe, however every player must get the shoe of
their choice approved by Coach Hall prior to purchasing it.
All shoes will be at least 90% white and have only black trim. No
other colors are permitted on any shoe. All
players will also wear white socks during games.
Players will not be allowed to play in a game unless they are wearing
approved shoes and socks.
Every player who makes the team is expected to be at ALL practices. Practice
times will vary depending on the day and gym availability.
Normal practice times are either
3:00–5:00
,
5:00
7:00
, or
7:00-9:00
during the week and every Saturday morning or early afternoon.
Any player with a personal schedule that conflicts with basketball will
need to make the necessary adjustments to be at every practice. Also,
in order to eliminate any problems in the future, it is expected that all
players will ride the bus both to and from all games.
In keeping with past policy, all players who make the final basketball roster
will turn in a check for $75 made out to Adams Booster Club.
This money is used to provide every player with their own practice
uniform (shorts and a reversible tank top), at least 2 Adams Basketball
T-shirts, personalized towel, and a hat. If
this is a cause for concern to any player or their family, then please contact
Coach Hall.
Rochester Community Schools mandates that there be five practices before cuts
are made. The varsity and JV may
have some practices before school that will count towards the five try-out
practices. Each team will make cuts
immediately after the fifth practice.
Parent meetings are scheduled to take place soon after the final cuts are made.
At least one parent (preferably both parents) need to attend the meeting.
The varsity parents will meet on Thursday, 11/18 at the
Wilson
’s house at
7:30 PM
. The junior varsity and freshmen
parents will both meet on Monday, 11/22 at
Adams
. The freshmen will meet at
7:00 PM
and the junior varsity will meet at
7:30 PM
.
Finally,
due to the possibility of the football team playing into the start of the
basketball season, some adjustments may have to be made in the format for
try-outs. All players involved in
football, or any fall sport for that matter, will be given every opportunity to
try-out for basketball. As a result,
final cuts may be postponed until such time that every player interested in
basketball is given a fair chance to showcase their ability to the coaching
staff. Therefore, if it is not
possible to make the final cuts by Friday, November 19th, then a
preliminary cut will be made at that time and the final cut will be delayed.
If
anyone has questions, please contact Coach Hall at

(248) 726-5200.
Sincerely,
John
