Rochester Adams Highlanders open the 2005-2006 season with an impressive win over the Lutheran Northwest Crusaders by a score of 74 to 51 to get the.

Adams got down 0 – 5 in the first minute of play but then applied a full court press to force the Crusaders into multiple turnovers which resulted in an Adams 21 to 11 run. Tyler Newsome got off to an early start and scored 15 of his game high 22 points in the first period. The second quarter was all Rochester Adams by outscoring the opposition 20 – 6, lead by the hot shooting and aggressive play of Matt Neimiec. Very good Adams defensive ball pressure made it difficult for the Crusaders to get their offense going.

A slow start to the third quarter saw Adams pull the ball out when the Crusaders tried to mix it up with a zone defense. Showing good patience,  Adams traded baskets until the Highlanders started pushing the ball up the floor with several fast break baskets to go on a 13 – 0 run to end the third quarter. Jake Forhan came off the bench to take charge and lead Adams scorers in the second half. A great team effort on both sides of the floor produced 18 steals, 14 assists and 6 block shots (most from John Crandell).
