Adams
JV pulls one out at the buzzer to up-end
Eisenhower 50 - 49.
The Highlanders lead only once in this game and picked the
right time to do it with a buzzer beater by JD Osborne (#12 Above).
Adams
came out a bit sluggish in the first quarter and could not get into to
offensive flow, in large part due to the defense on both ends of the floor. It
was still a two possession game until Eisenhower hit a 30 footer at the buzzer
to end the first period. Little did we know that would not be the last buzzer
beater in the game.
Adams
picked-up the offense in the second quarter by crashing the boards and getting
several put-backs lead by Brian Perry. The
Highlanders went on to out score Eike in each of the last three quarters lead by
the aggressive play of Andrew Loscko. Mid-way through the fourth quarter,
Adams
pulled even with Eisenhower at 44 – 44. This game had the making of a close
finish. Missed free throws by both teams kept the game close to the end.
With 9 seconds left in the game,
Adams
rebounded a missed Eisenhower free throw and dribbled down the bench sideline.
The gym was loud and everyone was anticipating the last shot when the Eisenhower
coach yelled timeout. Only one problem, they didn’t have possession of the
ball or any timeouts left. But, the referees who were also excited inadvertently
blew the whistle with 4.3 seconds left on the clock. After the situation was
sorted out, 6 seconds were remaining with
Adams
ready to in-bounds the ball on the side. After two passes and the seconds
ticking, JD Osborne ended up with
the ball in traffic, but was able to pull up within 10 feet and Eisenhower in
his face to drain the last second shot.
The
Adams
bench rushed the floor along with the student section to celebrate. The
Highlanders hung in there, kept fighting to the end and put themselves in a
position to win. What a win !!!
